Latin: Agaricus blazei Murill
Czech: Brazilian/almond mushroom
Chinese: Ji Song Rong 姬松茸
Japanese: Himemtsutake
Thevital Agaricus mushroom is native to South America and has been known since the time of the Incas. It originally grew around the village of Piedade near Sao Paulo. It is now cultivated all over the world. It has been known as the 'mushroom of the gods' or also the 'mushroom of life'. The local inhabitants lived to an older age and there were far fewer cancers among them.
The mushroom has an exquisite sweet taste and smells of almonds. Interestingly, it grows in sunny places and not in the shade like most mushrooms. In English it is called the 'sun mushroom'.
In 1945, mycologist W. A. Murill included it in his herbarium, but it was not until 1960 that it received more laboratory research. Thanks to Japanese scientists, many therapeutic effects have been demonstrated.
Agaricus is of great scientific interest. It has very good results in the treatment of HIV positive and skin melanomas. For example, Ronald Reagan used it for a long time to support the treatment of his skin tumour.

1) Skin problems
- Used for allergies, especially skin manifestations
- used for: allergic skin reactions (eczema, urticaria, etc.)
- other uses: skin melanomas, pigment spots
- often combined with Reishi or Coriolus
Remark:
The sharp taste of Agaric directs the action to the upper layers of the skin and reduces pigmentation and the formation of moles and freckles.
2) Affects the immune system
- Strengthens innate and acquired immunity - increases production of interferons and interleukins
- regulates the immune response - can stimulate or dampen immunity as needed
Notes:
Agaricus has the strongest effect in boosting immunity, so it is not taken for more than two months. After that, a break in use is necessary.
3) Allergic and autoimmune reactions
- It is used for allergies, including food allergies
- helps in histamine-mediated allergic reactions
4) Use in cancers
- Supportive treatment for cancer - add it when leukocytes (white blood cells) are in decline
- reduces metastasis - limits cell motility
- can be used in conjunction with conventional treatments (chemotherapy, radiology, biologics)
- reduces the incidence of unwanted side effects and mitigates the impact of conventional treatment
- accelerates recovery after chemotherapy
5) Cough
- allergic asthma - it is warm in nature and can be used for coughs aggravated by cold
- used together with Reishi for chronic productive cough - with clear and thin mucus
6) Anti-inflammatory effects
- contains the antibiotic psalliotin - acts against E. coli, Shigella, etc.
7) Protects the liver
- has hepatoprotective effects - protects and regenerates liver cells
- itis used for: jaundice (type B and C), it also reduces the negative effect of alcohol, paracetamol and other poisons on the liver
8) Metabolic problems
- Increases insulin sensitivity - thus regulates blood sugar in type 2 diabetes (improves its use by cells)
- lowers cholesterol levels
- lowers high blood pressure
10) Support peristalsis and digestion
- Strengthens stomach and intestinal function - this means it improves digestion
- used for: abdominal pain, cramps, indigestion, nausea
- supports peristalsis - improves emptying and stops diarrhoea
- expels worms - both from the intestines and hidden pathogens
- acts on: chronic borrelia, chlamydia, roundworms, dandruff, etc.
11) Neuropathy
- eliminates neuropathic pain - it manifests itself with a small stimulus even at rest
- regeneration of nerves - combined together with Hericium, Reishi and Auricularia mushrooms
Remark:
Neuropathic pains arise from the disruption of peripheral nerves by prolonged elevated glycaemia, nerve damage e.g. shingles, or after injuries.
12) Supports the bones
- Contains B vitamins and vit. D2 - supports bone metabolism and growth
13) Arthritis
- Arthritic pain - helps with arthritic pain when heat helps
- Combines with Hawthorn and/or Shiitake
14) Cramps
- relieves cramps and stops pain - in the limbs (especially from cold) or in the abdomen (when parasitic load)
Less common use of Agaric in clinical practice:
- tumors below the "navel"
- spasms of the blood vessels of the lower limbs (+ Reishi)
- harmonization of stress load
- fatigue conditions
- hair fall and premature greying of hair
- mental abilities
- reduces oxidative stress
- neurological problems
