-benefits the Kidneys, nourishes their Yin and essence

-nourishes the Yin and blood of the Liver

-cools the heat of deficiency

-supports sexual function

-maintains normal blood sugar levels

Description:

The original classical formula dating back to the early 12th century A.D. when it was formulated as a pediatric formula to treat the so-called "five delays" in babies and toddlers - delayed standing, walking, hair or tooth growth, and speech. Since the Ming Dynasty (14th - 17th centuries AD) it has been used as a basic formula for deficiency of Yin (that which nourishes, moistens and cools - manifested by night sweats, feelings of heat that worsen in the evening, dryness in the mouth and throat) in all major organs, but especially the Kidneys and Liver. Modern uses include deficiency of Kidney Yin leading to infertility, sexual dysfunction in both men and women, chronic nephritis and hepatitis (inflammation of the Kidneys and Liver) or diabetes. The latter is taken according to Chinese medicine as a deficiency of Yin in the so-called three radiators, the recipe mainly addresses the one related to the lower radiator, but since the Kidneys are the most important Yin organ (90% Yin), and thus support Yin in all other organs with their Yin, it has a very wide application. It is also very well known for its ingestion for manifestations of dryness on mucous membranes (e.g. eyes, throat, vagina). As a great Yin tonic, it also has uses in normalizing elevated cortisol levels in chronic stress, anxiety states, "inner tension" and insomnia.

The "six flavors" referred to in the name represent three draining herbs, helping to drain away excessive dampness, empty and full heat, and three complementary herbs. Rehmannia, called "black essence" precisely because of its extraordinary function of replenishing life essence, Yin and blood, is the essential herb of the blend. The dogwood holds what we replenish , in the right place, and further expands the Yin, the essence, and also clears the empty heat from lack of nourishment and cooling. Jam Chinese replenishes the Qi and levels of both Kidney and Spleen - so that the latter can handle such a large proportion of "heavy" herbs.

Because the blend replenishes our life essence so well, it is used as a base blend against the signs of aging and the foundation for other ani-aging blends.
