Use of recipe according to traditional Chinese medicine:
-transforms cold phlegm, removes dampness
-withdraws the rebellious Qi of the Lungs and Stomach
-restores the Qi mechanism
-stops shortness of breath and cough
-strengthens the Spleen
Description:
An 11th century recipe that was created by modifying the famous Perilla Seed Decoction, which was compiled in the 7th century by the great physician and teacher Sun Si-Miao. Su Zi Jiang Qi Wan is a recipe that is designed to treat asthma problems caused by the presence of so-called "cold phlegm", often in "deep" asthma. This is usually a larger amount of white watery mucus that causes shortness of breath, wheezing and chronic coughing. In addition to acute and chronic cold asthma, the recipe can also be used very well for chronic bronchitis (again manifested by coughing and phlegm), the same kind of cough caused by colds, emphysema or smoker's cough, or coughs in elderly people who have a 'drop nose', which also fits this picture. It is a condition characterized by "excess" - congestion at the top and deficiency (mostly of Kidney Qi, which helps the Spit breathe) at the bottom. Perilla seed is an essential herb, transforming the phlegm, helping the Lung Qi to drop, and thus relaxing the Lungs. Other herbs help to drain the phlegm and restore the proper Qi mechanism, but also support the center, replenish Qi and blood. In our modification, we have enriched the blend with Chickweed, which powerfully relaxes Lungs attacked by cold, and its "helping hand" - Apricot Seed. It is this combination that is extremely effective in treating "deep seated" phlegm and "acute asthma". This is further aided by the erline root with its anti-inflammatory and, as has been modernly discovered, antihistamine action.
Indications:
-shortness of breath
-wheezing, whistling in the lungs
-shorter inhalation, more difficult exhalation
-quickening of breathing
-cough
-gasping
-chest tightness
Modern effects:
-allergic asthma
-chronic bronchitis
-pulmonary emphysema (emphysema of the lungs)
-related atopic eczema
-shortness of breath and productive cough with white phlegm
Language:
-may be swollen
-thick white and moist coating
Pulse:
-hua
Contraindications:
-the mixture is not suitable in the treatment of asthma of the hot type (yellow-green phlegm), as well as in the predominant deficiency of Lung (congestion is not pronounced, exertional shortness of breath predominates)
Remark:
The treated should avoid cold and wind and exclude from the diet, uncooked, cold, fatty and heavy products that cause congestion.
